A Confident Online Platform for a Public Speaker

Built by Shell Creative | Website by Sydney Heck | Newsletter Integration by Noah Sandler

When Jeff Wu and Michelle chatted, he wasn’t just looking for a website. He had a bigger mission and a tight deadline.

Jeff and Michelle know each other through our business networking group, BNI. They sat down on a Wednesday afternoon to talk about his speaking goals and how his online presence could support them. He had a major opportunity just a few days away: he was scheduled to speak at a conference filled with his perfect audience. These were people who could book him for future engagements.

His goal? Ten speaking gigs located between Washington, DC and the Midwest. Close enough to visit his daughter in college this fall, catch her basketball games, and serve his clients along the way. This wasn’t just about building his platform. It was about building a business that worked for his life.

He needed a site that reflected the clarity, confidence, and professionalism he brings to the stage. Something mobile-friendly, easy to navigate, and ready to grow with him. And he needed it live by Monday morning…three working days later.

With Sydney leading design and Michelle’s son, Noah stepping in to handle newsletter integration and automations, we delivered a clean, modern Squarespace site that was live and ready before Jeff hit the stage.

A Website with a Clear Mission

Jeff’s goals were simple and focused:

  • Invite visitors to join his email list

  • Communicate who he is as a speaker

  • Showcase his experience and topics

We built the site around those priorities. Michelle helped guide the structure and strategy while Sydney designed a layout that naturally led visitors to action.

Finished Jeff Wu Speaks hero and homepage.

Clean Design, Confident Layout

Sydney used Squarespace to create a streamlined, modern design with a high-contrast color palette, bold typography, and lots of white space. The homepage opens with a powerful visual and tagline, then walks visitors through Jeff’s background, speaking topics, and how to connect.

Highlights include:

  • A simplified header and navigation to keep things focused

  • Mobile-optimized layouts for a smooth experience on any device

  • Clean content blocks that support clarity and ease of use

  • A booking section that makes it easy to take the next step

Every section was designed to keep things moving. There’s no fluff or filler, just a clear path to connection.

Aligned Visuals and Flow

Jeff’s message centers on empowerment, growth, and purposeful communication. Sydney reflected that through a cool-toned color palette, crisp imagery, and a minimalist layout that gave his message space to breathe.

With Michelle’s creative direction, we refined the visual hierarchy to prioritize readability and lead generation.

Key sections include:

  • About: A concise, high-impact bio that builds credibility

  • Speaking Topics: A skimmable breakdown of what he brings to the stage

  • Contact Info: A no-fuss form that makes outreach easy

  • Newsletter Sign-Up: Available in multiple spots for maximum visibility

Newsletter Integration by Noah

Another big goal for Jeff was to start building his email list so he could stay connected with his audience. At the time, he didn’t have any email marketing set up, but he knew the power of staying in touch. This was especially important for people who heard him speak and might want to book him later.

Noah helped him get started on Kit, one of our favorite tools for simple and effective email marketing. He set up everything from scratch, including:

  • A branded signup form embedded on the homepage and a dedicated landing page

  • Tagging and organization behind the scenes

  • A four-part welcome email sequence that introduces Jeff, his mission, and what to expect going forward

  • The tech side, like connecting Kit to Jeff’s domain and testing everything for a smooth launch

Now Jeff has a clean, professional way to keep in touch with his audience and warm up potential clients over time. And he didn’t have to figure out a single piece of tech himself.

Mobile-First and Future-Ready

As with every Shell Creative project, mobile responsiveness was a priority. Sydney made sure the site looked and functioned beautifully across devices, with touch-friendly buttons and intuitive navigation.

Final Outcome

The new JeffWuSpeaks.com is clear, confident, and built to support real momentum. Jeff now has a professional online platform that makes it easy to get booked and grow his audience. The tools are in place to help him build connection and visibility over time.

This project is a great example of how Shell Creative brings together mentorship, strategy, and family-powered collaboration to create websites that don’t just look good. They work.
